about Daria Charlize Evans

Daria Charlize Evans is a New Jersey-based dance artist with a Bachelor's degree in Dance from DeSales University. She is now pursuing her Masters in Dance Education: Initial Certification for Teaching Grades K-12 at NYU Steinhardt, expected 2025.  Her work speaks about social issues, especially those that face the African American community and to give back to the community. Daria believes art provides people an outlook to express themselves creatively, marks history, uncovers injustice, overcomes hindrances, and understands the environment around us

Daria is an African American artist that believe that art is a form of self-expression and it exposes humans in their pure and raw forms. Art empowers artists through their medium of choice to not only express themselves but to show who they are. Art provides people an outlook to express themselves creatively, marks history, uncovers injustice, overcomes hindrances, and understands the environment around us. Art makes us more well-rounded human beings in terms of communicating across language barriers and collaborating with others. 

     Through my artistry of dance, I am committed to addressing the issue of racial inequality, providing plans to fight oppression along with racism, and creating a healthy and unbiased shift in our society when it comes to how African Americans are treated within and outside of the dance world. I am determined within my artistry to bring support and advocacy for the advancement of the African-American community. Through dance, I am committed to conveying this theme throughout my choreographic works and using my artistry to express my thoughts on this subject matter. Through dance, I am determined to communicate how issues of inequality affect the African American community and authentic individuality through self expression.
